Greetings from Richmond!
Architecture, antiques, gardens, arts — you’ll find everything you love in the historic Richmond area!
Richmond, the capital of Virginia since 1779, is home to Virginia Commonwealth University, your 2005 AUREO Conference host. VCU is a 21st-century university whose prime mission is leading the Richmond Region — indeed Virginia — into a knowledge economy built upon new ideas, disciplines and technologies.
Richmond is known for its four centuries of America’s history and heritage. It’s historical sites include Hollywood Cemetery, the burial place for several famous Virginians: Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler; the Virginia State Capitol, the first state public building of neo-classical style in the United States designed by Thomas Jefferson; and Monument Avenue, the only street in the nation to be designated a national historic landmark. In addition, the city offers easy access to the ocean, mountains and is ideally located between Williamsburg and Washington, D.C.
Please use the buttons at the left to find out more about all the exciting educational activities we have planned for the AUREO 2005 Conference.
We look forward to hosting a great conference Sept. 18 through 21, 2005.
Nancy J. Buchanan
