The Lessenger Award recognizes individuals for their contributions to the Association of University Real Estate Officials and for advancing the professional development of the real estate function within higher education.

Form of the award

The form of the award shall be determined by the officers of AUREO each time an individual is designated to receive the award.

Frequency of the award

The award shall be given at the discretion of the officers of AUREO. There is no requirement that it be made at any given frequency. Multiple awards can be made in any one year. When made, the award shall be presented at the annual conference.

Selection process

The officers of AUREO shall nominate and unanimously agree on individuals to receive the Lessenger Award using any appropriate forum available to them.

Eligibility to receive award

Any past or current member of AUREO is eligible to receive the award. An officer shall not be eligible to receive the award while he or she is sitting as an officer of AUREO.

Selection criteria

Individuals shall be selected to receive the award based on their contributions to AUREO and its member institutions, the professional development of the real estate function within higher education and their interaction with the individual members of AUREO.
